Dirrans Athletic AFC boss Jason Stewart has challenged his players to push up the table after beating Stewarton United 4-3 at the weekend.
The Ayrshire Amateur Football Association Premier League match started in feisty fashion at Stewarton Astro with the hosts being reduced to ten men after just two minutes for a straight red card offence.
The away side took full advantage of their man advantage to go three up through a goal from Logan Stevenston and a double from Steve Crichton.
On the stroke of half-time, Stewarton conceded a penalty with their player sent off for the foul as it was his second bookable offence.
Graeme Muir stepped up to the spot to score and put the away side four up at the break.
In the second half, the nine men of Stewarton rallied to score three goals but the Dirrans held on for a vital win.
Speaking to the Times, Stewart said: “We were sitting second bottom and now we have moved up a position after the weekend which is great.
“For the league games left, it is nine cup finals for us now and let’s get as high up this league as we possibly can.”
