Kilwinning Rangers AFC manager William Shearer says he is targeting the title after beating Kilbride Thistle 4-2 at the weekend.

The Buffs have been in great run of form going into the Ayrshire Amateur Football Association Division 2A match at Greenwood Astro.

They continued in a similar vein away from home with goals from Thomas Johnston, Cammy McLintock and double from Jack Cumming giving them a comfortable win.

The result sees the Kilwinning side move up to second place in the table and only three points off league leaders Irvine Victoria AFC with three games in hand on the table toppers.

Speaking to the Times, Shearer said: “If the players keep going like they have then I don’t see why we cannot challenge for the league.

“I think the Vic’s have got a game coming up against Mauchline.

“So, if they lose and we manage to get a win then we would go on top on goal difference.

“We have got quite a considerable goal difference on them but we are not ruling our Minishant at the weekend it will be a tough match.”
