KILWINNING Rangers fans are fearing the worst for their side after another tough week of results.

As Chris Aitken's side continue to play catch up with their fixtures, they played two away matches last week.

On Wednesday night, April 12, they headed to Blair Park to face Hurlford United before a relegation six-pointer against Arthurlie at Dunterlie Park on Saturday.

And neither game produced the desired result.

On Wednesday, despite scoring four times on the road, Hurflord won the match 5-4, thanks in part to four goals from former Buffs loanee Lewis Morrison.

Then Saturday saw Arthurlie score a 91st minute winner as they left the Buffs now sitting eight points from safety.

Wednesday was the second five-goal haul in successive weeks for the team facing the Buffs, after they fell to a 5-3 defeat at home to Petershill only seven days prior.

The match left fans frustrated with the "horrendous defending" lamented by many, and the conceding of 10 goals across the aforemention matches was described as "beyond frustrating".

And though many are keeping the faith, and blasting the side's poor luck, not all felt the same.

One fan commented: "Nothing unlucky about it. Score four away from home you should never lose.

"Can't keep them out at the back, been the same since we lost 5-0 to Clydebank, never been able to address it, story of the season."

However, fans and players alike dusted themselves off and got ready for what was being branded as a must win game against Arthurlie.

A fantastic crowd made their way to Barrhead for the match in the hopes of seeing the first win of a great escape.

Though that was not to be the case as Arthurlie scored in the 91st minute to win the match 2-1.

Some said it "might just be the final nail in the coffin" with many left frustrated at the manner of the defeat.

Buffs were 1-0 down at half time, with Arthurlie also missing a penalty and having a goal ruled out for a foul in the first 45.

Ally McColm had got the away side level early in the second half but they created little in the way of chances there after.

Kenny Marshall also saw red for the Buffs after the hour mark as Arthurlie went for the win.

They fought they had it as they game neared its conclusion, but they saw a headed goal from a corner ruled out - much to the bemusement of many at the match.

Gary Smith did eventually win it though, in the first minute of time added on, resigning Kilwinning to a potentially costly defeat.

And many fans now found themselves struggling to see a way things can turn around.

One commented that it was "sad times for a club that's better than this" while another simply said "it's done and dusted now".

Though not all have lost the faith, as one fan said: "We can still stay up. Yes would be miracle but we've got to believe we can still beat relegation."

Next up for the Buffs is a trip to face basement boys Cambuslang on Tuesday (April 18) night.
