IRVINE Victoria remain on course to secure promotion from the West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) Third Division.

With ten games remaining, it's all in Vics' own hands as a perfect record would see Dougie MacDuff's side bag second place, and one of three promotion spots, at the absolute worst.

Of those 10 games, six are against opponents who are currently 12th or below in the Third Division standings - something likely to leave Vics quietly confident that they have what it takes to get over the line.

However, Vics' latest win did come with one possible fly in the ointment - albeit not in terms of the result itself.

MacDuff's men cruised to a 5-0 win over Carluke Rovers at Victoria Park on Saturday, thanks to goals from Kevin Adam, Kyro Crawford, James Maxwell and a Gerard Clark double.

The aforementioned Clark appeared in the game as an early subtitute after the club's second top goalscorer this season - Alessandro Savarese - had to the leave the pitch injured.

With 17 goals this season, 11 more than the club's third top scorer, and only four shy of top scorer Kevin Adam's tally, Savarese may be a major miss if his injury proves to be long term.

However, given his two goals on Saturday, Clark will feel he is more than capable of filling the void.

Next up for Vics is a short trip to Merksworth Park to face North Ayrshire rivals Dalry Thistle on Saturday, April 22 - kick-off is at 2pm.

* Meanwhile, Irvine Meadow return to action this weekend after a free week on Saturday.

Kevin Deeney's men travel to Townhead Park this Saturday (April 22) to face Scottish Junior Cup finalists Cumnock. Kick-off is at 2pm.
