Irvine Meadow took the honours in the annual Marymass Derby match with a 4-0 victory over Irvine Vics.
The game was played at Victoria Park on Friday night, with Dougie MacDuff's underdogs very much hoping hoping to get one over Kevin Deeney's Medda.
But the clash saw alleged coin throwing and spitting incidents towards the stand-side linesman from small minority within a section of the Irvine Victoria support.
Ref Ross Clark was forced to intervene three times after being signalled by the official and, at one stage, asked Vics' playing and coaching staff in the dugout nearby to have a word with fans.
Reports are expected to be made to the SFA later this week.
The big match was all square until Medda's new signing Jordan Boyd arrived in the middle of the six yard box in the 39th minute to break the deadlock with a cracking header from a Louis Kerr corner.
They doubed their lead just four minutes later and it was that man Boyd again.
He met a Sean Ewart cross into the six yard box to bullet another header into the back of the net.
Medda seemed completely in control when they scored their third of the match in injury time at the end of the haf.
Grant Brennan was denied by a fine save from Vics keeper Clark Pence, but he was unable to stop a Kyle Faulds strike just moments later from the edge of the box.
Meadow completed their cruise to victory in the 61st minute when Conor O'Donnell curled a free kick past Spence high into the corner of the net.
The hotly contested match takes place annually as part of the Marymass festival celebrations.
It is typically the only time the sides meet all season, with the Vics competing in the WoSFL Third Division, and Medda in the Premier Division.
The crowd for this year's game was limited to ticket only after the 2022 derby match saw a pitch invasion when Vics equalised on the 85th minute.
Once order was eventually restored, Medda snatched a last gasp victory when Conor O'Donnell's free kick found the net via the post - leading to a further pitch invasion.
The latest incidents will cast a shadow over one of the most highly anticipated matches of the year.
