Stewarton Annick hosts testimonial match for club legends

Elliot Duffy, James Taylor and Johnny Sinclair were all honoured during the afternoon with some special presentations and a fantastic game of football.

On the park, an exciting match between the current Stewarton Annick amateur side and a legends team finished in an exciting 4-4 draw before penalty kicks decided the match.

(Image: Newsquest) The main man of the moment was current player Duffy, who is celebrating 10 years at the club.

He initially joined on loan as a striker from Whitletts Juniors and has played in multiple positions during his time at the club.

(Image: Newsquest) Also honoured was past president James Taylor, who has given 17 years of voluntary service so far.

(Image: Newsquest) Finally, former player, coach and committee member Sinclair was celebrated. The midfielder is now a coach at junior side Troon FC.

(Image: Newsquest) Duffy stepped up and scored the last penalty to win the game for the legends side, in a fantastic day for all involved.

A Stewarton Annick spokesperson said: "Elliot initially joined the club on loan from Whitletts as a rapid striker with an eye for goal.

"Since then our very own flying carrot has played many positions at the club. His attitude and discipline are exceptional and he's a manager's dream.

"The day also sees us recognise two former members of our club. Our past president Jimmy Taylor, who has given over 17 years of service and continues to do so with his girls team.

"Jimmy is never far away from the club and continues to provide value advice and support.

"Finally, we recognise the service our former player/coach/committee member Johnny Sinclair has given to the club in his two spells.

"Johnny is now a first team coach at Troon FC and had a brilliant first season at West of Scotland level."
