IRVINE Meadow boss Jamie McKim heaped praise on his side as they earned their place in the League Cup semi-finals.
The North Ayrshire outfit eased into the last four with an impressive 4-1 victory over fellow WoSFL First Division club Muirkirk Juniors.
The visitors took the early initiative in the tie with David Anderson opened the scoring just after the ten minute mark.
The score remained at just one until the final 25 minutes when quickfire strikes from Mark Curragh and Euan Baird increased the advantage.
Muirkirk did hit back with little over ten minutes to play but any thoughts of a comeback were quelled as Kyle Caig struck as the clock ticked over to 85 to round off the scoring.
“Overall, I think we were dominant over the 90 minutes," McKim told Medda TV. "We were the better team.
“That’s a hard thing to do here, it’s a hard place to come – Muirkirk are a good young side and not many teams will come and win by that score line.
“I think it was a different type of performance for us, it wasn’t all patterns of play and nice quality.
"I felt we were particularly dominant in the first 20 minutes. They did come back into the game, and it opened up a wee bit more than I would have liked, but I felt we were in control.
“I think that showed going into the second half when we went through the gears. Sometimes you have to roll the sleeves up, go direct and pick up second balls. I think we did that.”
McKim was also pleased to see his full squad play their part - something which may prove vital as his team chase league and cup glory this season - after the disappointment of last week's loss to Ardrossan Winton Rovers.
He added: “What really pleased me, we changed the team a bit and I’m delighted for the squad.
“It shows that everybody is going to be needed at different stages – it shows the value of the team and the squad.
“We had a good reaction from the subs, they had the opportunity to come onto the pitch and make an impact and that’s what they done.
“I’m delighted with the boys overall, they have just been great this week – when you’ve had a wee setback last week.”
Meadow will be back to league action this weekend as they travel to take on Cumbernauld United on Saturday, March 14.
