IRVINE Meadow boss Jamie McKim says that "mentality" will be vital as his side prepare for their league title run-in.
The North Ayrshire outfit maintained their eight-point lead at the top of the WoSFL First Division on Saturday with a 3-1 win over Thorniewood United.
Though it was a challenging test as McKim's men faced tough conditions and a top side at Robertson Park.
The game was level at the break as Euan Baird opener for the visitors was cancelled out on the half hour mark.
However, the hosts were reduced to ten men shortly before the interval and allowed Meadow to pull away in the second half with Mark Curragh and Kyle Caig scoring to secure another vital three points.
“It’s a tough place to come but I thought we started fairly well and got ahead in the game," McKim told Medda TV. "There is a wee bit of disappointment in terms of conceding.
“Second half, we made a couple of changes just to make sure we kept control of the game, and I thought we were the more dominant side and fairly comfortable.
“There wasn’t any real top football played, for me, it was a day that we came, rolled the sleeves up, worked hard and got three points then went away.
“We had to go a wee bit more direct but for me it was a good team effort. The guys that started, the guys that came off the bench, everybody played their part.”
With eight games left in the season, McKim says it is vital that his side remain focussed as they look to bring the title to Meadow Park.
He added: “From now until the end of the season it’s going to be about mentality. It plays a big part.
“We are performing well, we are winning, we are scoring goal. I’ve been really happy with the performance level.
“We need to keep focussing on one game at a team, we just need to keep going, it’s really simple.
“That’s all we can do, look after ourselves. We have got a really good strong squad and everyone is playing their part. It’s good to see.”
Next up for Meadow is a home league match against Lanark United on Saturday, April 18.
