IRVINE Meadow boss Jamie McKim has hailed his players as they celebrated an "unbelievable" title win.
The North Ayrshire outfit lifted the West of Scotland Football League (WoSFL) First Division trophy on Saturday following their final game of the season.
Meadow ended the campaign on a high with an impressive 4-3 win over Kilbirnie Ladeside in front of a packed home crowd.
A rollercoaster encounter saw the hosts take the lead through Mark Curragh before falling 2-1 behind before the break.
Euan Baird restored parity after the restart, with Curragh putting Meadow back in front shortly afterwards.
The striker completed his hat-trick midway through the second half before Kilbirnie got back within one to make for a nervy final few minutes.
However, McKim's men held out to take all three points and end the campaign with a record-breaking points tally of 76.
“I’m a very happy man," the manager told Medda TV. "It was an emotional day. It was a big performance from the boys.
“I thought first half we started really well, went ahead, then probably switched off a bit to be honest.
“There are probably some distractions in terms of what's going on in terms of the presentation.
“We went behind, we had a wee bit of a go at the players at half-time. We were looking for a reaction, and we had that in five minutes.”
The boss also took time to reflect on the season as a whole, a campaign which saw his team win 24 of 30 games, drawing four times and losing only twice - both games being against Ardrossan Winton Rovers.
McKim added: “I’ll remember the scenes at the end for a long time. As a season, it’s one of the ones I will remember for all my days.
“We’ve had a terrific season, it speaks volumes of our team that we’ve won this league by 19 points.
“The players and the staff deserve massive credit because it was an unbelievable season.
“We set out targets for the season, you wouldn’t have imagined it would have gone as well as this.”
Irvine Meadow can now look forward to playing Premier Division football again next season.
