A YOUNG Irvine Meadow side has been crowned league champions after completing an undefeated season.

The club's 2013 outfit got their hands on the Ayrshire Youth Football League (AYFL) League One trophy on Wednesday following a win in their final match of the season.

Meadow went into the fixture away to Dean Thistle knowing that a point would be enough to secure top spot.

But the boys went above and beyond as they earned a resounding 5-0 win over their East Ayrshire opponents.

Goals from Leyton Gilroy, Daniel Telfer, James Lyall, Max Campbell and Lewis Robertston, alongside a clean sheet for shot stopper Jude Donohoe, provided a perfect evening for the team.

As well as ending the season in top spot, the result also saw Meadow finish the season with an unbeaten record.

The 2013 side won 13 and drew two of their games in the impressive campaign.

A club spokesperson added: "A massive congratulations to our Irvine Meadow 2013 boys on being crowned AYFL League One champions after an outstanding season.

"On a day of monsoon weather, skies cleared but Meadow put on a thunderous display in front of a great crowd. A great end to what has been a great season.

"The boys have shown incredible commitment, teamwork, determination and character over the season.

"This title is the result of countless hours of hard work from the players, coaches, and volunteers, along with the fantastic support from parents, families and everyone connected with the club.

"Well done boys, enjoy every second of it. The future is bright for this special group of players."
