IRVINE Meadow boss Jamie McKim said he was "delighted" with his side's performance as they returned to action.
The North Ayrshire outfit were 2-0 winners against Troon as they took on the Lowland League West club in their first pre-season friendly.
Goals from Euan Baird and new signing Stephen Docherty, who joined from Meadow's opponents, either side of half-time were enough to earn the victory.
It was a showing which delighted McKim who feels his side could have taken a greater margin of victory.
“I thought we were brilliant," he told the club's media team. "In possession, boys have taken to the ideas really well.
“I thought it took is a bit of time to get used to out of possession, what the idea is and how we went to press the game.
“I thought we were dominant throughout the game. The first half was a bit closer, but I thought we were deserving of the lead.
“Second half, we were by far the better team. The scoreline probably doesn’t reflect the dominance.
“The amount of boys that are missing and boys playing here for the first time as a new signing or a trialist, I’m delighted with the performance.”
McKim hopes to see his men continue to put in strong showings as the prepare for another stern test.
Next up, on Saturday July 4, Meadow will travel to take on League One outfit East Kilbride (2pm KO) as preparation continue for the WoSFL Premier Division season.
The manager added: “We need to keep improving, that’s what it’s got to be, we’ve got an idea of what we want to do and how we want to do things.
“It’s about working hard to improve, get fitter, get better and be ready for day one.
“That’s what these games are for. Coming into the game, you’re not place a lot of emphasis on the result.
“Obviously you want to win, because winning is a good habit, but it’s more about performances levels, fitness levels and preparation for that first day.”
