A NORTH Ayrshire boxer has been left gutted as his Commonwealth Games journey was ended.
Aaron Cullen was defeated in his men's 55kg round of 32 bout on Friday, July 24.
The Kilbirnie man lost 5-0 on points to India's Jadumani Singh Mangengbam.
The Irvine Elite boxer fell victim to the unseeded nature of the competition draw with two fighters touted for medal success facing off in the opening round.
It was a contest in which Cullen felt he more than held his own, with the 19-year-old "baffled" that he was not awarded a win on the scorecards of any round.
Speaking on social media, he said: "[I'm] scunnered with the fact my Commonwealth Games journey has ended so soon.
"Four years of work for it to be gone in a blink of an eye. To not have a share of the scorecards baffles me.
"I felt I held more than my own to potentially take the second and third round."
Cullen has vowed to remain positive and cheer on his fellow Team Scotland boxers as the Commonwealth Games continues.
He added: "Although my journey is done, I'm still going to make the most of it and support the troops in their success."
