EGLINTON FC boss Kevin Deeney says his side are looking "solid" after they made it three matches unbeaten at the weekend.
The Kilwinning outfit were 4-0 winners away to Giffnock on Saturday as they continued to rise up the WoSFL Third Division standings.
Goals from Aiden Monaghan, Sam Duncan, Lewis McGinn and Logan Ellis ensured The Jousters maintained their impressive form of recent weeks.
It comes after a challenging start to the season which saw the club lose their opening two fixtures before earning a win against Saltcoats Victoria at the beginning of this month.
A battling draw against West Park United followed before Saturday's resounding win.
“I thought we could have taken something from the first two games," Deeney commented, "but they came too soon for us.
“At Saltcoats, I thought we were the better side, but we made it hard. Though I was just glad to get points on the board.
“I’m now starting to get players back. We were much better against Giffnock. We were comfortable and got the job done in the first half.
“There weren’t any real failures, we looked solid in all departments. They never really had a look in.”
While Deeney said his side were not helped by fixture scheduling at the beginning of the campaign which saw his team surrender home advantage.
Due to difficulties accessing their home ground, Eglinton had asked for away fixtures in the early weeks of the campaign.
However, this request was not followed and led to the Kilwinning club playing home matches at Campbell Park in Saltcoats and Thorn Park in Johnstone.
“I have been annoyed with the league," Deeney said. "We told them that we didn’t have a home park available for the first three weeks. There were tournaments booked.
“They decided to give us three home fixtures on Saturday and one away midweek. Now we’ve lost home advantage three times.
“We’ve had to pay for another park, it’s cost the club, we could have done without losing this money. The league could have helped, and they didn’t.
“These are little things that could easily be fixed if they just take a grip of it, they’re asking us to sort it ourselves.
“The start was hard enough, but we’re not getting much of a hand there.”
Next up for Eglinton is a home Scottish Junior Cup tie, back at Kilwinning Sports Club, against Kilbirnie Ladeside on Saturday, August 22 (2.30pm KO).
