IRVINE Meadow boss Jamie McKim says he will continue to target "quality" signings as he looks to add to his current squad.
It comes as the club's latest arrival made an instant impact on his competitive debut, scoring and notching an assist within minutes.
Attacker Daniel Wilson played a pivotal role on Saturday as McKim's men earned a comfortable 4-0 win away to Hurlford United.
The forward, signed from Shortlees Amateurs after a 64-goal campaign with the club, struck the second goal of the match in the opening 20 minutes, adding to Euan Baird's opener.
Stephen Docherty made it three on the half hour mark before Hurlford were reduced to 10 men early in the second half.
Docherty doubled his tally for the afternoon shortly afterward but there was to be no further scoring thereafter as Meadow eased to three WoSFL Premier Division points.
“I think we were excellent for about 45 minutes to an hour," McKim said. "We dominated the 90 minutes.
“We created so many chances and obviously the clean sheet is pleasing, I was just disappointed we didn’t add more numbers to the end result.
“I think the 10 men made them retreat a wee bit more, stop pressing and high and trying to protect their goal.
“I just feel we let them off. That’s what I said to the players afterwards. Although we still dominated we weren’t as ruthless as we should be.”
The clean sheet means Meadow have conceded fewer league goals than any other team in the Premier Division, something McKim wants to see continue.
He added: “It’s something that we intend to be the situation the whole way through the season, that’s what it was last year.
“Then you’re not just depending on one side of the pitch because there have been times this year we’ve scored two or three goals and not came away with the win.
“We need to make sure we’re strong defensively, we’re creating and we’re taking the chances.”
The manager hopes to welcome further signings of a similar quality to new arrival Wilson as he looks to ensure his side continue to improve.
McKim commented: “We’re still a work in progress. We’ve brought Daniel Wilson in now from Shortlees. I’d imagine there will be one or two on the back of that.
“Danny has really impressed since he came in. He played in the Marymass game and scored. He comes in on Saturday and within 20 minutes he’s got an assist and a goal.
“He’s the quality that we’ve been looking for. We’re not just jumping in to take anybody.
“That’s the best way to get the most out of your players, making sure that if they drop off there is someone there wanting to take their place.”
Next up for Meadow is a trip to face Maryhill in the South Challenge Cup second round on Saturday, September 5.
