U15s Fiona Brown League
KSC GIRLS 1
CUMBERNAULD COLTS 0
KSC Girls last Wednesday faced Cumbernauld Colts in a winner-take-all clash at Almswall Road, Kilwinning.
With it being their final game of the season the girls knew we needed a win to be crowned league champions.
In a very tight match against a strong physical team, it was clear this wasn't going to be a high-scoring game.
Cumbernauld came close in the second half with a few long range efforts that our girls dealt with well. Then with five minutes left they got the breakthrough we needed.
A deep outswinging corner was fired in by Beth and the ball broke to Caitlyn who drilled a low shot hard into the goal.
Cumbernauld knew they needed at least a point from tonight's game so they pushed on for the last remaining minutes and the brave Kilwinning battlers adopted their very own Jose Mourinho-style tactics and parked the bus.
As the referee blew the whistle, the girls celebrated an end to a fantastic U15 season which has yielded two league titles and a league cup.
To finish the entire 2017 season unbeaten in the league after a total of 23 games is a magnificent achievement.
All the coaches and parents are proud of the players and say they deserve success.
