IRVINE MEADOW 2

LARKHALL THISTLE 1

A LAST-gasp wonder goal from super sub Darren Miller helped Meadow see off feisty Larkhall on Saturday.

They began strongly and in just five minutes, Mark McLennan cut the ball back from the right wing to Ryan Carnwath, who curled a shot home from the edge of the box.

The visiting number eight was then booked for deliberately putting his shoulder high into a Meadow player off the ball and was lucky to escape a sending off.

However the Larkhall number nine was then given a straight red card for pushing his head in towards a Meadow opponent in yet another off-the-ball incident.

Just after the break a McLennan effort struck the post as Meadow started the second half strongly.

In 71 minutes it was all-square when a ball was played over the top of Ryan Begley to the Larkhall winger. Shaun Newman rushed out from his goal to edge of box and player lifts ball over him and high into the Medda goal for a fine equaliser.

The in a minute into injury-time, Miller, slotted into an upfront role, smashed home an absolute rocket of a free-kick high into the net to seal victory.

The Larkhall full-back was then shown a red card after the full-time whistle.
