An Irvine singer will release her first ever record this December.

Emerging Scottish musician Lauren Collier, who is making a name for her talent on the fiddle and captivating vocals, is set to release her debut album 'Uddevalla' on Friday, December 15.

An atmospheric mix of songs and instrumental tracks from around the world, Glasgow-based Lauren has taken inspiration from the music of multiple countries.

Each track has evolved over time, Lauren said, influenced by her own musical tastes, life experiences and the diverse cultures she has encountered on her travels.

Uddevalla takes its name from a town in Sweden where Lauren attended music camp as a teenager; a place she has always felt both grounded and inspired, and which holds a special place in her heart.

Lauren Collier said: “I have gained, learned and experienced so much through other people's music, either by listening to it or playing it myself.

"For me, music has the ability to transport me to a different time or place - an escape, which has been a real gift at times.

"The tracks on this album represent my interest in other cultures and countries.

"For me, it is a journey elsewhere, without leaving the room; and reminds me of what a big, varied and fascinating place the world is.

“It feels special - and a little scary - to share music that means so much to me and is so reflective of me and my interests.

"I hope listeners are transported somewhere by the music, just as I am, and that it can mean something to them too.”

Lauren is set to release three singles from the upcoming album, Kouman Nou Ye, Talariya Magariya and Padangbai.

Originally hailing from Irvine, Lauren, along with her band, has performed at multiple venues and festivals across the UK, including Skye Live, Moniaive Folk Festival, and Queensferry Folk Festival.

She will be taking to the Celtic Connections stage next year, performing at the Glasgow festival for the first time with her own band on Friday, January 26 in the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall's Strathclyde Suite.

Uddevalla was recorded at GlowWorm Studios in Glasgow and mixed by Barry Reid at his studio Rosecroft in Muir of Ord.

The album will be available on CD and all digital platforms from Friday, December 15
