POLICE have issued a description of a man they want to trace following a robbery at a Boots pharmacy in Irvine.
The Times reported yesterday that cops had been called to the store in Lower Vennel, Bourtreehill, after a report of an incident.
A source said a notice had been placed on the door of the premises saying it was closed "due to unforeseen circumstances", with police reportedly "all around" the area.
Police confirmed they were called to the store at around 2.25pm on Thursday, March 16 after a man entered the premises and threatened staff.
There were no injuries, but staff at the pharmacy were left shaken as a result.
Detective Constable Craig McDonald of Saltcoats CID said: “We are keen to trace a man described as 5 feet 6 inches tall, of thin build and dark hair.
"He wore a hooded top, mirrored sunglasses, a black jacket, and a blue surgical mask."
Anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed the incident is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1889 of March 16, 2023.
Information can also be passed on to police anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
